Welcome Glen Evans as Vice President of Core Talent

I’m pleased to announce that Glen Evans has joined Greylock Partners as our Vice President of Core Talent. In this role, Glen will be responsible for helping build and evolve core talent within the firm and advising our portfolio companies on recruiting, operations, strategy, and sourcing tools.

Talent is always top priority for startups. Companies need to hire the right engineers, product managers, designers and marketers to build their company to scale. But, competition for talent is tough and founders need to think about team-building strategically and establish sustainable processes around recruiting operations from talent acquisition and on boarding to compensation packages and sourcing systems.

This is why we are so excited to have Glen join the team. He will be an incredible partner to our portfolio companies. With more than 12 years of experience, he has built and scaled the recruiting teams of fast growing startups and global technology companies, including Slack and Facebook. He also brings a deep network of relationships in the tech community across all functions including engineering, sales and product.

Most recently, Glen was head of global recruiting at Slack where he was responsible for defining and leading the talent acquisition strategy to support the company’s very rapid growth. Under his leadership, he grew the recruiting team from 24 to 60, improving recruiting operations and developing sourcing tools and processes. He was brought in as the first director in recruitment at the company and his teams successfully hired across all functions on a global scale.

At Facebook, Glen spent almost seven years building out their engineering recruiting arm and revamping Facebook’s referral program. He led a team of 100 recruiters focused on infrastructure, IT, and security. Notably, he spearheaded onboarding during Facebook’s acquisition of Oculus. He worked closely with the Oculus founders and brought them and their team into the fold of Facebook’s recruiting operations. He also hired and built their talent team to successfully scale the company.

At Greylock, we partner with portfolio companies at the very beginning, working side by side to support them with executive and core talent. We’ve known Glen for eight years and have seen him have a profound impact on recruiting strategy and execution at Facebook and Slack. He has developed and mentored teams, and put in place structure and processes that can scale. I am excited for our founders and operators to work with Glen to help build out their recruiting operations, and engineering and product teams.
